You’ve lost and regained the same 20 pounds more than once, and you’d like this time to stick. If the at-home shot makes you nervous about weight loss injections in Freehold, NJ, your first appointment settles it.
So, how do the first visit and the first shot go?
Will I Have to Give Myself the Weight Loss Shot at Home, and How Hard Is It?
At the beginning of your visit, your provider will ask what you’ve tried, then draw an A1C, a lipid panel, and thyroid function. Based on your results, your provider will recommend either semaglutide, the medication in Wegovy and Ozempic, or tirzepatide, the one in Mounjaro and Zepbound. You’ll start at the lowest dose.
Feel free to ask why one was chosen!
Yes, after the first one, which you’ll do in the office with Sarah Tajudeen, APN, our lead injector, or one of her nurse injectors beside you.
You’ll pinch a spot of skin on your stomach, press for a few seconds, and you’re done. Most patients find it feels like less than a flu shot.
Also, you’ll self-inject once a week, moving up a dose about every four weeks. In the first week or two, you may feel some nausea after meals. That part is normal.
Who Should I Call If I Need Help With My Weight Loss Injections?
If you increase your dose and are feeling terrible, call Sarah and let her know. Or, if you’ve increased your dose and you’re still having food noise (aka constantly thinking about food), feel free to call the office. Ask them if this is normal and what you should do. Since these injections are supposed to calm and reduce the noise so that you can focus on building healthy eating habits. This is the whole point of doing this type of program rather than going it on your own.
Because this is a medical weight loss program, it includes medical supervision, support, and follow-ups. Every four weeks, you’ll come back to Thoreau Drive for a weigh-in and a dose review. Our post on what a medical weight loss specialist near Freehold looks for covers the questions to bring.
Your program runs out of Dr. Giglio’s physician-owned office in Freehold, NJ, where Sarah Tajudeen, APN, and nurse injectors Mayra Tuba and Brittany Lucey see you.
